SUMMARY:The Art of Anna Held Audette
DESCRIPTION:The exhibit will showcase over 20 works by Audette\, providing visitors a rare opportunity to view her work in a building that celebrates the industrial history she captures. The exhibit will run from December 1st to January 26th\, giving visitors ample time to experience Audette’s work firsthand. \nAnna Held Audette was a respected professor\, painter\, and author. She was born in 1938 to Julius Held\, an art history professor\, and Ingrid-Märta Held\, the chief of Conservation at the New York Historical Society. At Yale School of Art\, Anna pursued an MFA in printmaking. She later became a full professor of art at Southern Connecticut State University\, where she mentored many of her students. She produced paintings and drawings of abandoned cars\, aircraft\, ships\, trains\, and neglected factory interiors. In 1997\, Anna retired as a full professor of Art. During her retirement\, she painted industrial sites and made 120 oil paintings and numerous drawings. She passed away in 2013\, leaving behind a vast collection of work in numerous private collections and prominent institutions.

DESCRIPTION:CALLING ALL INVENTORS\, TINKERERS\, MAKERS\, AND BIG THINKERS!  Join us for a fantastic day of hands-on engineering family fun as we explore the extraordinary power of WATER at the American Precision Museum in Windsor\, Vermont. \nAlthough the original waterwheel in the 1846 Robbins and Lawrence Armory (now the American Precision Museum) was decommissioned years ago\, we can use everyday materials to recreate mini-models of the original waterwheel to understand how it powered the entire factory!  We’ll also observe a Heron’s Fountain to learn about the science behind hydraulics and pneumatics and explore how water pressure creates electricity. DESCRIPTION:Original patents\, drawings\, portraits\, machines\, and tools will be a part of this celebration of ingenuity\, primarily focused on those in the Machine Tool Hall of Fame. \nThe American Precision Museum is hosting a special exhibit in April\, celebrating “Inventors and Innovators\,” featuring members of the Machine Tool Hall of Fame. The exhibit is open Monday – Friday\, 10- 5; admission is half-price in April. \nThe exhibit explores patents\, famous industrial partnerships\, the development of industrial ecosystems\, and how colleagues from various companies often worked together. Archival materials from the museum’s collection include 19th century patent documents from the U.S. and Great Britain\, trade literature from numerous companies\, and more. \nThe Machine Tool Hall of Fame is an initiative of the American Precision Museum and the Association for Manufacturing Technology. The Hall of Fame includes 47 individuals and is available online at The Manufacturing Ledger\, a new portal that highlights the stories of the celebrated people behind the machines.  \nMany biographies are displayed in the exhibit\, including member influence and their company affiliations. The machines displayed in the exhibit hall linked with the Machine Tool Hall of Fame\, also are highlighted. \n“While reading the biographies\, you realize that some of these men were notable for their inventions\, some for their ingenious business practices\, and others for inspiring and catalyzing others\,” said Executive Director Steve Dalessio.

SUMMARY:Picturing Women Inventors
DESCRIPTION:The Smithsonian and the United States Patent and Trademark Office present “Picturing Women Inventors\,” a poster exhibition that explores the inventions of 19 highly accomplished American women. Astronauts\, computer pioneers\, and businesswomen join athletes\, engineers\, and even teenagers in this remarkable group of inventors. The posters will be on view at the American Precision Museum March 1 through 31st\, in conjunction with Women’s History Month.

SUMMARY:Kids’ Day of Engineering
DESCRIPTION:*Featuring special guests\, activities\, and giveaways!* \nAttendees receive an APM tote bag and a ‘golden’ pen. Admission is free\, although donations are always welcome.    This event will take place in the learning lab\, which is heated.  The museum exhibit hall does not have heat\, but visitors are welcome to tour the museum\, bearing the cold in mind! \nNational Engineers Week 2022 will run from February 20 to 26. This year’s theme — Reimagining the Possible — recognizes how engineers create new possibilities from green buildings to fuel-efficient cars to life-saving vaccines.
