2017 Summer Student Visits—for Camps and Libraries
Gears, Belts and Pulleys (Grade level 4 - 6)
Lasting roughly one hour, this visit includes an outside tour of the building, a Learning Lab experiment, and an exhibit tour with demonstrations by student interns in the Working Machine Shop. Large groups may be divided into small groups to rotate through the sections.
Ready, Set, Go! (Grades 3 - 6)
This visit needs about one and one-half hour to complete and consists of an outside tour of the building, a Learning Lab experiment and a tour of the exhibit with demonstrations by the student interns in the Working Machine Shop. 2017 School Group Tours and Activities
Gears, Belts, and Pulleys (Grade levels: 4 - 6)
The Robbins and Lawrence Armory was an engineering marvel when first built. Inside an industrial revolution took place. This tour looks at how energy was harnessed from the nearby Mill Brook to power the machines that changed the world.
Work and Labor in a Vermont Town (Grade levels: 7 - 12)
Maps and census records reveal changes in manufacturing and labor that occurred over time at the Robbins and Lawrence Armory. This tour uses primary sources to investigate the Industrial Revolution.
